The Bios platform solution delivers on the increasingly emerging requirement for large volume and/or ultra-high viscosity formulations.  The platform features fast switching from 1 ml to 2.25 ml to 5 ml and is gas-powered to provide for a wide operational window.

From a manufacturing perspective, the platform utilizes ISO-standard plunger stoppers and staked-needle syringes (glass and plastic). Featuring a standard sub-assembly format and standard fill-finish processes, the Bios technology is easy to transfer and adopt.

For patients and caregivers, there are several medication adherence features to support effective administration including its ergonomic design and simple, two-step operation, along with a large inspection window and audible and visual end-of-delivery feedback. Connectivity hardware is available as an optional extra. From a safety perspective, the needle is always hidden from view and the device provides passive needle safety.

What are the differences between each manufacturing facility?

All SMC facilities are designed to produce high-volume medical devices, but each location has unique specialties. For example: SMC Somerset specializes in silicone manufacturing. North Carolina serves as our dedicated fill-finish location. Our facilities are strategically located to provide convenient access and support to our customers. What percentage of your manufacturing is medical?

All of SMC manufacturing fall in either Medical Device, Diagnostics or the Pharmaceutical Markets. We do not manufacture anything in other markets.
